Common Downswing Mistakes and Simple Fixes

Stop the rushed transition, early throw, and balance loss that steal solid contact.

Read the miss before fixing it

The common error in downswing is reacting to the last ball instead of the pattern. One loose strike may simply be timing, footing, or a rushed change of direction. A repeated top-of-swing mistake deserves attention before the next bucket disappears.

Simple fixes to test

Pattern First check Better response
Ball starts off line Face at address Re-aim the club, then the body
Strike wanders Distance from ball Make three half-speed swings
Curve doubles Path and face gap Shorten the swing and reduce speed

Avoid the opposite miss

If a rushed throw from the top that loses the face early shows up, do not chase the mirror-image mistake. Tweak the feel once, hit a brief set, and judge contact before inventing another fix.
