Flight tells the truth
Distance control affects scoring because the ball flight changes the next decision. A sand wedge that finishes online but 15 yards short asks a different question from one that starts offline immediately.
Where strokes leak
- Aiming at a flag when the safe miss is obvious.
- Ignoring strike quality because the swing felt fast.
- Trying to fix curvature during the downswing.
Scoring version
Strong distance control can look like a ball that finishes pin-high even when it is 20 feet wide. If that result leaves a reasonable next shot, it counts even when it was not highlight-reel perfect.
