You’re trying to slide the club under the ball, move a cushion of sand, and let that sand carry the ball out. That is why the setup looks and feels different from a chip.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Ch3>Build a stable base\u003C\u002Fh3>\n\u003Cp>Dig your feet into the sand for traction and lower your body slightly. Open the clubface before you grip the club, then aim your body a little left of target if you’re right-handed. Swing through that spot and keep the club moving to a full, soft finish. Deceleration is the bunker killer; the club needs speed because sand slows it down.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cblockquote>\n\u003Cp>\u003Cstrong>Coach’s tip:\u003C\u002Fstrong> Listen for a splash, not a thud. A longer bunker shot may need a slightly squarer face or more swing.
