The Fundamentals of Ball Position
Dial in where the ball belongs for wedges, irons, hybrids, woods, and driver so contact becomes easier to predict.
The simple rule
Ball position is not one fixed spot. It moves because clubs are different lengths and are designed to meet the ball at different moments. Wedges and short irons usually sit near the middle of your stance. Mid-irons creep slightly forward. Fairway woods move farther forward, and driver is commonly played inside the lead heel to encourage an upward strike.

Check your body, not just the ball
Many players move the ball but forget the stance changed too. Use your shirt buttons or sternum as a reference. With irons, your sternum should feel close to the ball; with driver, it can sit a touch behind it.
Range checkpoint
Lay a club on the ground between your feet, perpendicular to the target line. Place three balls in different positions and hit the same club. Watch contact, launch, and start line. The right spot is the one that makes your best strike repeatable.
